House For Six

Home Tour

This page is due for an update!  We just moved to new home a couple months ago and are putting together a new tour for that place.  In the meantime, you can check it out in all it's moving day glory in this post here.

A full tour of our last home is below.  We weren't able to finish everything we wanted to before our surprise move, but we loved every minute in that house.  And we can't wait to get busy making this next old house our home!

We're so grateful that after four years of renting and five different houses, we are now homeowners again!  Not being able to take a paint brush to the walls those four years, left us open to buying a house that needed a little TLC and would let us really make it home.

We had a single-story ranch in mind as we started our search and saw this house the morning it came on the market.  An entry can set the tone for the whole house and this one said it all.  Irridescent wallpaper, a gold/crystal chandelier, dated built-in with wavy trim, popcorn's pretty much what we would find throughout the rest of the house.  And we were over the moon!

It was just the kind of facelift project we were looking for....good bones, no big-ticket items to address/replace, just in need of a little house love....

So, come on in and I'll give you the tour!

Remember that wacky wallpaper I mentioned?  The lovely entry to our house...

Some progress...

Our living room still trying to find it's identity...
Read about how it went from this, to the brown conundrum here.

Just off the living room is a formal dining room.  We stripped massive amounts of wall paper and gave it a fresh coat of paint.  See our kids' art gallery from dollar store frames and other room details here.

And then we shifted to a light palette....

Oh, this kitchen.  A pit of darkness and gloom.  We finally finished the total makeover of this dated space!

before and after

Completing our breakfast nook gave us the push to tackle the rest of the kitchen. The "before" of this space is almost worse than the kitchen. Find all the juicy details here.

This summer we finally made progress in our previously uninspired master.  New floors, paint, a cool wall treatment, and a fresh color palette gave this room a totally new feel....and it's only 1/2 way done!  Find the details on Part 1 here.

We are constantly tweaking things in our guest room turned his/hers workspace.  Lots of DIY and organizing has gone into this room.  Find them here!

Our two boys share a room and we've had a lot of fun making it a playful space with an old school rugby vibe. See all the projects we've done here

accessorizing a striped wall

We have a little girl and she loves pink.  We're not joking around.  Mia's room is as pink and girly as they come.  Creating this whimsical space has been fun for both of us!  See her full room reveal with links to all the projects here.

Talk about a literal seascape theme.  We took this hall bath down a notch by painting over the wall paper and updated a few key areas.

This room started out as a mancave, quickly turned into a fam-cave, and is now back to it's mancave roots (with some hidden kid-friendly storage).  Each time we've redone this space for James, we've managed to keep it a surprise. Find all the details here

Last but not least we're in the process of converting our laundry/pantry area to a laundry/mudroom.  A whole lot more functional for a family with three kids constantly on the move!  See our latest updates here.

We update this page frequently as we update our home.  As with any household, our needs are constantly changing and our systems have to adjust accordingly.  It's all an opportunity to do something new and continue making this house our home sweet home!  You can find all of our home updates, DIY projects, and more at our project gallery page!

*We've just moved to a new house in a new state - Ohio!  We'll be updating this page shortly with details and projects happening in the new place.  In the meantime you can see a full tour of the untouched house on move-in day right HERE.
