House For Six

The Results Are In!

I'm watching the Oscars as I type, so I'm pretending that you all are on the edge of your seats for the results of our little 2-year Blogiversary survey.  I know.  Ellen is far more entertaining and these might be a little underwhelming compared to dolled up celebrities, but here's a look at how the numbers from the survey landed...

I love that so many of you have been with us since our "Fresh Coat Of Paint" Readers EVER.  New and old!

Instagram is feeling a little left out..;)

And the stuff that you're most interested in...

Is it odd that this last question was really enlightening to me?  I mean, we do write a DIY/home blog, so I suppose I shouldn't be surprised that those posts are the most popular....but the blog has morphed a bit since we combined it with our family blog last year.  I always wonder if I'm striking the right balance between posts about projects/helpful systems for around the home and posts on family/faith.

This was great confirmation that you still enjoy seeing the projects we're doing to make our house feel more like home....but that you do enjoy posts about family/faith/other stuff sprinkled in as well.

Even though it was interesting to see where the numbers fell in those questions above, your written responses about ways we can improve, what you would like to see more of, and your other comments were by far the best.

Really.  You guys sure know how to make a girl feel loved!  I truly appreciate your honesty, encouragement, and suggestions for making House For Five better!  Thank you SO much for taking the time to leave your thoughts!

One thing that came up a couple times was that it would be easier for readers to comment on posts if they didn't have to register an account and log-in to comment.  I apologize.  I know this is an inconvenience for some, but when we allow anonymous comments, we get pummeled with spam and wouldn't want anyone clicking on those links.  I will look into a better solution though!

Some of you also requested more posts about the outdoors - yes!  I do not have a green thumb by any means, but am eager to learn.  This house appears to have some raised garden beds in the backyard (from what I can tell under the blanket of snow), so the spring will very much be an experimental season as we discover what's already here and how we may want to switch things up.  Organizing the garage, a gardening station and outdoor entertaining are all on the radar for this spring/summer!

Many of you left such sweet words of encouragement to just keep doing what we're doing and to keep the projects  coming.  We have a lot planned for the house in the months (well, years!) ahead and hopefully warmer weather will bring more productive and creative days!

So, THANK YOU again!  For filling out the survey, for your genuine feedback, and for reading!  You can always contact me via email if you have any other questions/suggestions/feedback.

Now, let's chat a bit about the coming week! It felt so good to finally knock out the painting in the living and dining room, so we planned to ride that motivation train right into the currently-very-green family room/kitchen.  But the ridiculous state of my office, in which I am quickly losing track of all important paperwork, demanded it be moved up the priority list.  Which I'm totally ok with because it means I get to focus on organized and girly.

A couple weeks ago I shared this pic of what's inspiring my uber feminine office space...

I really hope I can bring the vision in my head to life.  I tend to freak out in the middle of every room redo and question the entire design.  This time I sense it coming before I've even started!  I need to just stick with my gut and push through!

I'll be posting some project sneak peaks on Instagram and Facebook as I go along and will share the progress here later in the week.

Is anyone else in the middle of an office organization project?  What are some of your favorite products or ways to keep papers and supplies organized in the office?  Do tell!

Thanks so much for reading! We would love to keep in touch!
